The Case of 'Rape'

'Rape'. This word has been a prominent question for the global society for decades now, despite of all the awareness among the public. There are worse of worse incidents seen in the world EVERYDAY. The thing that povoked me the most is this forwarded e-mail that I recieved a few days ago. It is not only about adults, the worse thing is child molestation. The information given in this mail was ghastly.

Hi friends,
Last week a 3 year old girl in South Africa was beaten and raped . She is still alive. The man responsible was released on bail yesterday. He is walking the streets. If you are too busy to read this then just sign your name and forward this on.. This is a very important petition. It is an essential part of the justice system for children. You may have already heard that there's a myth in South Africa that having sex with a virgin will cure AIDS . The younger the virgin, the more potent the cure. This has led to an epidemic of rapes by infected males, with the correspondent infection of innocent kids. Many have died in these cruel rapes. Recently in Cape Town , a 9-month-old baby was raped by 6 men. Please think about that for a moment.. The child abuse situation is now reaching catastrophic proportions and if we don't do something, then who will? Kindly add your name to the bottom of the list and please pass this on to as many people as you know. Please don't be complacent, do something about the kids of South Africa .. You can make a difference. That child is fighting for life. This is just 1 of the million cases of child abuse, so please pledge your support and help keep CPU (CHILD PROTECTION UNIT) open.. Please give your support to the petition and ensure that it goes to as many people as possible.

This is SO revolting! These people should be humiliated till death. The poor child does not even understands these things. I wish I could do something about it.

This post might seem, rather is incomplete because I am at loss of words.

Lost Childhood

Closed doors
Suppressed roars
Broken paths
Live's a wrath.

Cramped rooms
Thousand mates
Narrow streets
Late at nights.

Black rays
Make us stray.
Disconnected gaze
For the mighty gaze.

Unfinished promises
Make us go insane.
Shattering faith,
They call it sane!

We have no right.
We have no duty.
We have no life.
We have no hope.

Strange though it is:
We never had Life,
How can we know it?
We never had faith,
How can we see it?
So how can we loose something
When we never had it?

Still there is a hailstorm inside our hearts.
Did we loose something?
Was it our childhood
Was it our Birth right??

A world called 'Narnia'

Narnia is a fantasy world created by C. S. Lewis. I am amazed to confess that I like Narnia better than Hogwarts or any other place Rowling's Harry potter.

Narnia is a fantasy world created by C. S. Lewis as the primary location for his series of seven fantasy-novels for children, The Chronicles of Narnia. The world is so called after the country of Narnia, in which much of the action of the Chronicles takes place. In Narnia, some animals can talk, mythical beasts abound, and magic is common. The series tracks the story of Narnia when humans, usually children, enter the Narnian world from 'our world', or Earth.

It talks about many in depth issues which we overlook while reading. The Chronicles of Narnia is set in what seems to be an entirely different world from which we live in. It's creation, witnessed be the evil (the White Witch) , ruled by the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve (humans to be exact) and the talking beasts (the public of Narnia). The novel explores the major problem we face TODAY. Or should I say the history behind the world we live in today and its approaching destruction. The other lands that surround Narnia are :Archenland, Calormen, Eastern Ocean and the less explored places like the underworld, Western Wild, Ettinsmoor, and Bism (below the underworld).

The eventual destruction of Narnia can be seen as the coming end of the 'Earth'. So long ago a novelist in his fantasy probably foresaw this and tried to warn us. He took the approach through fantasy because he was scared that he might be see as insane if he came forward with this theory of world destruction. We did not see it coming until it was on the verge of irreversibility. Species of beautiful animals have gone extinct, the ocean levels rising, mountains cut down, water shortage, dark air, what else do we need to explain the evil deeds that we have done? people were happier back then before the wars, before industrialization! Human's greed has brought him to his death bed. It is not that we have realised the impact even now, because even now we are searching for alternatives and ignoring the nature. We are too busy enjoying our luxurious lives that we forget that tomorrow we wont be alive to enjoy them! Are luxuries more important than our happiness? There is a famous saying 'we search for happiness outside, when the real happiness lies with ourselves'. God cannot do anything if we don't do anything for ourselves, he can only show us the path. The path has been clear for many years now 'SAVE THE NATURE, SAVE YOURSELF'. Have we become so selfish that we don't care for our coming generation? What are we giving them education for, when they wont be alive to have a career!

As everyone says it is still not late. The eventual destruction is written! All we can do it to prolong it. And to give the next generation a better world to live in the best way is, well I wont go into all that, many scientists-socialists-academicians have already given us ways to extend our Earth's life.

"Culture and Tradition" vs. "Modernism"

I have been debating with others as well with myself, about the question of culture and tradition (well that IS what, we Indians always bring in between EVERY discussion) conflicting with modernism. The major point of concern here is what we mean by culture AND tradition and also what we consider Modernism today as.

There was a time when modernism meant development, bringing changes, accepting new ideas and ideologies, creating a more comfortable world, and the most important aspect lay in changing the mind-set! India, though, developed a LOT in all these catagories, but has failed to change the age old mind set patriarchy! Not only this many families till today don't educate the female child. Putting the gender-education difference aside there is the topic of "culture and tradition". My question is that: Why does culture and gender hinder only with women coming into outer world? Why is there never a finger pointed at 'men'? Why all the "cultural and trational" rules for only WOMEN?Why not for MEN?
Consider the recent Mangalore incidence. Why is it that if MEN drink everything is fine, and if a a woman even touches a vodka she is accused of violating our Indian culture? Not that 'm in favour of drinking, but it IS a major concern. Is'nt it? Well this is fact, like it or not. India is a country where infrastuctural and industrial development is hapening rapidly but there is hardly any growth in the deep rooted psychology.
There are other examples:If a man hits and abuses PLUS physically abuses his wife (for ABSOLUTLY no reason) that shows his musculinity....??!?(big question) AND if ever there is a case of a wife beating up her husband its considered as violating the culture...as a wife CANNOT make her husband realise that a husband could be at fault, after all THE husband is the 'sant parmeshwar',right?
A girl child is taught from her childhood that she has to leave her father's home- get married- worship her husband- and what all not! As if there no better knowledge available. Her educaton is made limited, her ideas are resticted, her voice is suppressed! THAT is what culture is meant TODAY! The 'today' which considered as the "Kalyug'!
The meaning of "culture and tradition" has been completly trasformed. Modernism has been altered. The true meaning has been lost. Culture and tradition, which was once considered a cherished idea in India has now become a problem which is growing with every generation.

From the above essay don't judge me as a feminist. Naah, m not a feminist. There are problems that men face but as far as I know in this context there is hardly any amn who face a problem. All men cherish their position, which the partiarchy has given them. It's majorly women who are blamed with "culture and tradition" rule breaking. If there ARE incidences in which men have ever faced such a problem, lease do let me know. No one will be happier that me.Oh! now don't consider me a sadist!
